This course adapts the accelerated learning approach. It provides delegates with an in-depth knowledge of the ISO 14000 series of standards. It develops delegates' understanding of the purpose and requirements of ISO 14001 and the skills required to effectively plan, conduct and report effective environmental management system (EMS) audits.

Successful implementation of the course meets part of the formal training requirements for individuals seeking registration under the IRCA Auditor Registration Scheme.

Course objectives:

By the end of this course you will be able to:

1. Understand the requirements& business benefits of an EMS.
2. Understand the purpose and requirements of ISO 14000 series of standards.
3. Determine environmental aspects and impacts
4. Implement and manage EMS audit programs covering first, second, and third party audits.
5. Plan, conduct, report and follow-up effective EMS audits in accordance with ISO 19011 Guidelines

Prerequisite:

A pre-course exercise to be answered by the delegates and turned in prior to or at the beginning of the course is required to demonstrate understanding of the ISO 14001 Standard. Delegates are expected to have an understanding of the content, application and implementation of the ISO 14000 standard.
